November 16, 2024: cricket fans have a reason to cheer as skipper Rohit Sharma is set to re-join Team India in Perth ahead of the first Test of the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit, who became a proud father to a baby boy on November 15, stayed back in Mumbai to be with his family and did not travel with the squad initially.

Sources close to Rohit have confirmed that the Indian captain will be flying to Australia in the next couple of days, with travel dates likely to be either November 17 or 18, 2024. “He will travel to Australia for the Test series in one or two days. We are awaiting confirmation on ticket bookings, but he won’t miss any match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” said a source.

The skipper will be taking a commercial flight to join the team in Perth, ensuring his availability for the first Test starting November 22.

The birth of Rohit and Ritika’s son marks a joyous occasion for the Sharma family, and now Rohit is ready to shift his focus back to cricket as he leads the team in one of the most iconic rivalries in world cricket.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy promises to be a thrilling contest, with both India and Australia fielding strong line-ups. Rohit’s return to the squad provides a significant boost to India’s batting order and leadership. With his vast experience in Australian conditions, the team will look to their skipper to lead from the front as they embark on their campaign down under.

As fans eagerly await the first Test, Rohit’s timely return ensures that Team India will be at full strength, aiming to retain the coveted trophy on Australian soil. However, while Rohit’s availability comes as a relief, Shubman Gill’s injury has become a new headache for the Indian team. The young opener’s fracture could pose significant challenges for India’s opening combination, adding to the team’s concerns ahead of the high-stakes series.
